Oh boy..... some week.

This last week was great.

And Insane.

But a lot of fun. I went on 3 dates, 2 to the forgotten carols and one amazing Christmas dance. I guess I take after a few dear scoutmasters of mine when it comes to the "Warm Fuzzy Feelings" because truth be told after Josephs song on the second night my eyes were sweating a bit. (Not outright crying but dang close) I really enjoyed the show both nights.

As for the Christmas dance, I thoroughly enjoyed all of it. OK maybe the drive could have been a little safer not to criticize the driver but the roads were treacherous. And it might have helped to have spikes in my tux shoes, because I managed to biff it twice that night once with my date. (thank goodness she let go or I would have brought her down too.) However snow and ice aside I could not have asked for better company and a more enjoyable (20 person) Group.

Oh, and as a side note at the Christmas dance almost everybody tried some of my carrot pudding and most enjoyed it to! So we have discovered that the pudding is not the cause of my insanity. (though I am probably overly excited about having my friends try my pudding stuffed in a jar)

Choir Dinner and the Sisters

Tonight is the last night of choir dinner! The stress begins to be relived. But it has been a lot of fun. Between spending almost a solid 48 hrs setting up and writing / preforming the narration it has been an enjoyable experience.

Our ward brought seven of the widows from our ward and my brother escorted them. Their transportation: The Brooksby's stretch limo. My brother said that he felt like he was in the car with seven giggling teen-agers. Many thanks to brother Brooksby for driving and letting us pull this off, the sisters were so excited and had a great time.

College

Ok: Who let colleges make such ridiculous deadlines? December 1st Whew… I think I’m losing… GPA ACT AP and all the other acronyms that are spelling DOOM are haunting me, and I still manage to put it off, this is not going to be pretty in a few weeks.

Election Day

With Election day looming before us I find a comment I heard on NPR (national public radio) quite comforting. The reporter was interviewing a few factory workers in Mississippi and talked to them about the upcoming election, one comment made by an ex convict made me perk up a bit and listen he said: "Even if He (Obama) doesn't get elected I'm just going to keep on working hard 'cause that's when people will respect you." So in the end with which ever president or congress majority or even with or with out a library bond we can all just work hard and gain respect and change that way.

so I don't have a lot to write but maybe someday I will

Beauty All Around Us

Ok, Eric is not feeling very deep today; but I have been noticing more and more how beautiful our mountains are. As the fall colors take over the mountain side I am grateful that we have this “Mountain home so dear.” So here I will place some of my pictures from the Maple hike a few of the guys from our group completed.

Oh, Me Too

So here I go, I guess this is worth giving a try. I do often feel like Moroni and the "Awkardness of my Hands" will be apparent as I figure out how this blogging thing works.

Now a quick musing:

There is a line in the gaelic storm song Kiss me i'm Irish that says "without our past, we would never survive." This is so true in so many ways. How often as a society to we make the same mistakes repeatedly, why do we "do what we do when we know what we know." we should all make an effort to become as informed about where we've been as we do where we are going.

But world history is not the only kind of history that is important. You know those little quirks in your family or even the old standbys that you hold dear to your heart. I think those traditions and past experiances are also needed. Hence this blog's title: "Carrot Pudding and Christmas Trees" named after two of my favorite family traditons.

hey this is kinda fun....
